In the bustling city of Jersey City, Louis Alvarez, Alex Mendelsohn, Marcelino Figueiras and Cesar de la Rosa embarked on the journey of opening Jane Doe, a high-end restaurant and bar with a unique blend of Italian and Japanese-inspired small plates—the concept aimed to offer a distinctive food and beverage experience accompanied by the nostalgic charm of vinyl music.

Pains/Challenges

Jane Doe’s inception had its share of challenges. We explored the space a year prior but found the venture too costly without additional support from the landlord. The turning point came when the landlord, recognizing the potential, offered assistance drastic financial assistance. As developers, they facilitated permitting and rough building and covered expenses for essential items like walk-ins, HVAC, and mechanical installations totaling approximately 400,000 in tenant negotiated improvement.
